Eye Damage from Corona
We too can only research and learn more and more that the Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus not only causes respiratory infections, but can also affect other organ systems, such as the nervous system. In fact, mRNA from coronaviruses has been detected in the brain in autopsies of patients who died from covid-19.
There is also growing evidence that coronaviruses can also enter the retina of the eye and cause damage. However, it is unclear which retinal structures are infected by Sars-CoV-2 and whether the retinal damage is a direct or indirect consequence of an infection of the retina.
A joint research team led by Thomas Rauen and Hans Schöler from the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine and virologist Stephan Ludwig from the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster has now decided to use organoids – an organ-like model system – of the retina made from human reprogrammed stem cells to study Sars-CoV-2 infection of the retina.
Diseases of the Retina after Covid Disease and in Long Covid Disease
According to this, Sars-CoV-2 actually infects retinal cells, especially retinal ganglion cells, but also light-sensing cells. Furthermore, the researchers show that coronaviruses can also multiply in these cell types.
This finding is new and underlines the need to monitor diseases or damage to the retina as a possible consequence of “long covid”.
Trombosis / Ocular Thrombosis due to Corona Vaccination
The damage can be caused by epithelial damage to the fine blood vessels and blood clumping, i.e. thrombosis. This is not a narrowing and clogging of the capillaries or arteries due to deposits on the vessel walls but a clumping of the blood cells.

The trigger for this can be the spike protein. Since after the injections against Corona the body forms these spike proteins itself, so intentionally…(and one does not know for how long!)…the danger to the eyes is just as great, if not greater.
What can Patients do about Eye Problems caused by Covid 19 Disease?
That is of course the next question our patients ask. Accompanying our therapy here at Augenakupunktur Noll and a special laboratory test that we offer here in the practice, I recommend for elastic vessel walls, for example, omega 3, a good vitamin D3 level (the laboratory value should be around 80), alkaline nutrition and taking anti-inflammatory substances such as curcuma and boswellia.
In addition, I would recommend OPC, which makes the blood less prone to clumping.
The intestine also has a special effect on our immune system and should always be taken into account in post covid disorders.
